Why The World Needs Your Brand, Not Your Business

In a world of ‘saturated’ markets and endless startups violently treading water to be seen, the only way to float to the top is through your brand—not a new business tactic. And if you’re like, “Duh- I already have a great logo, stunning website and 5000 followers on Instagram…”- you’re missing the point. In this talk, Bethany McCamish, a brand strategist and brand agency owner, challenges entrepreneurs and CEOs to stop thinking about their business 24/7 and instead start cultivating their brand—plus the 3 Ps every cult brand has mastered.

Child abuse: How we’ve underestimated the problem—and all been hurt

For most of us, the idea of hurting a child is unthinkable—which may lead us to underestimate just how pervasive child abuse is. In the U.S. alone there are over 600,000 unique cases of child abuse and neglect every year – enough children to fill 9 professional football stadiums! While the trauma for that child is hard enough, we're just beginning to see how childhood abuse can affect a person's long-term health, both physical and mental, as well as their work, relationships, and society at large. In this compelling and critical talk, child abuse expert and pediatrician Jennifer Andrews, D.O., gives us a glimpse of the scope and scale of abuse in this country, and how it impacts not just the child, but their entire community.

About Jennifer
Jennifer Andrews,  D.O., is a pediatrician and a mother of four, who is committed to the care of children. Her work as the medical director of Foothills Child Advocacy Center (foothillscac.org) allows her the unique position of caring for hundreds of children per year who have experienced trauma in the form of child abuse or neglect. When not doing clinical work, she’s teaching medical students, other physicians and those in the community to detect subtle signs of child maltreatment, as well as how to intervene.

The Most Powerful Source of Intuition You Keep Ignoring

We’re encultured to believe that feelings are not to be trusted, and have been given short shrift in the decision making department. Facts rule hands down, every time. The problem is that making critical decisions on facts alone, without involving your feelings at all, could cost you a lifetime of regret. Professional energy trainer Lara Riggio has spent 20 years helping people discover and learn from the underlying emotional patterns for health and relationship problems—which are too often ignored. In this talk, Lara shows us how to tap our feelings as powerful sources of insight and intuition. Through grounding and curiosity she shows us how we can gain greater clarity and trust in ourselves not in spite of, but because of, our feelings.

How it works

FIRST, we craft.

These speakers learned a fresh approach to creating a signature, 10-minute talk, with guidance, feedback, and the opportunity to generate, develop, and shape it.

Then, we deliver.

During the speaker showcase, they will present their ideas and insights in less than 10 minutes.

Why 10 minutes?

Because it’s the sweet spot for building a talk. If you can’t make your point in 10, you will struggle to do it in 20. The 10-minute window allows enough time for you to articulate your thought and argument, but not so much time that you can wander off. It encourages you to be economical in how you think through and organize your ideas. Plus, once you have the base of a 10-minute talk, you can dial it back to do a shorter version, or build on and expand it into a longer talk when you need to.
